Research Into Genre of Film

Romance
Romance is a genre in film and television that focuses on love, passion and romanticism between two or more characters in a film, and the journey that it generally takes them on. Most romance films tend to be very powerful, and have a more gentle approach to the story than a comedy or action film would have. Most are structured to have an obstacle in the way that would in some why inhibit  the relationship between the two people, and how they overcome this. In most films it is a problem that would ultimately prevent actuall real life relationship, and the film uses this as a sort of fairy tale.
There are some subgenres of a "romance" film:
  • Romantic drama - usually havig a plot revolving around deep, romantic feelings between two people.
  •  "Chick flick" - romantic films normally aimed at a female target audience. Sometimes these type of films dont even have romance as a central theme.
  • Romantic comedies - even though these all still based on romantic ideals, a humorous storyline is still used, even though its used as more low-key rather than slapstick.
  • Romantic thrillers - again using romantic ideals
